Discussion: Advantages and Disadvantages of the Media

Recently I was thinking about the advantages and the disadvantages of the media. Now I wanted to ask the public. What do you think, how does the media help us in everyday life? How and when does it negatively influence us?
Here are some terms that might be taken into consideration:
- war
- education
- entertainment
- relationships
- jobs
- prejudices
- etc.

This is a great topic for discussion. There are so many viewpoints that is gonna be hard to nail one that everyone will agree on, so with that I present you with my views on the media.
I think that some is good and some is rubbish. I like hearing about what is happening in the world, and would love just that. But you do get huge media giants out there wanting to express their opinions, even though no one wants to hear them. You also have some that will show the bad things of the world and show that the world is going to hell, then they blame someone or something to make it worse.
I think that there needs to be some re-imaging of the media business model. It would prove better in the long run I am sure. Although I have a lot of opinions, here are some of the smaller ones, and I don’t want to take up the entire comment section.

In my country, the mainstream medias have been exploited by the ruling party to reflect that they’re the perfect government while the oppositions were bashed from every corner.
