Discussion: What’s the ‘meaning of life’ for you?

February 12th, 2008 by technitus

Has the ‘meaning of life’ always been the same?
Was it the same in primitive times?
Has it changed ever since?
Are there several ‘meanings of life’?
Where is the line between ‘meaning of life’ and ‘way of life’ to be drawn?

I guess the “meaning of life” is based on whatever society places priority on.

I’ve been editing my answer for at least three or four times now because it never expressed what I wanted to say. That’s a hard question to answer :)
But then I looked up and saw a quote that I have pinned on the wall and it sums everything up quite nicely:
“The universe puts us into places where we can learn. They are never easy places. But they are right.” (Delenn, Babylon 5)
For me, the meaning of life is to learn and to share and use that knowledge to change things, to make things better. And probably at some point I will realize that it’s not the various goals that matter, but the path I travel to get to them.

Meaning of life is very important because it can also define your quality of life
